Checking compatibility before ordering avoids buying an edition or platform you cannot use. Work through these checks on the device you plan to license, and keep a copy of the listing and your invoice.
1. Identify your installed system
On Windows, check Settings → System → About for the system type and operating-system version, then Settings → System → Activation for the edition. On a Mac, check About This Mac. A Windows-only app key does not install a Mac version.
2. Confirm Windows 11 hardware support
Review Microsoft’s Windows 11 requirements and use PC Health Check. A product key does not add missing hardware features or change the supported-device list. Back up data before any operating-system installation.
3. Choose an Office edition by the apps you need
Check the included applications, platform and license channel in the exact listing. One-time-purchase Office and Microsoft 365 subscriptions have different benefits; do not assume Copilot, cloud storage or every future version is included. Microsoft explains the difference between Office and Microsoft 365.
4. Check the support lifecycle
Version-specific use rights and security support are separate. Office 2021 reached end of support on October 13, 2026; see Microsoft’s notice. Check the lifecycle and supported operating systems of your selected product before purchase.
5. Confirm licensing rights, not just activation
Ask which license channel is supplied, how many devices or users it covers, any geographic restrictions, account requirements and whether it is transferable. Activation confirms that a product key was accepted; it does not, by itself, establish ownership, genuine status, transfer rights or compliance with the applicable license agreement. Keep your invoice and licensing documentation.
6. Review delivery and the guarantee
Read the Delivery Policy and Refund Policy. Our 180-day guarantee covers the specified unresolved activation and product-mismatch issues; it does not expand the software license. If a detail is missing, send the product link and your question to support@softwareinstore.com before ordering.
