Software in Store is a US-based independent reseller of genuine Microsoft product keys for Windows 11, Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Windows Server and the standalone Office apps. Every license we sell is a one-time purchase, a perpetual license that activates on Microsoft’s own servers, and every key is delivered by email within minutes of payment, seven days a week.
Why Software in Store exists
Buying a Microsoft license should be straightforward. In practice, a buyer comparing options runs into two extremes. The Microsoft Store sells at full list price and offers little guidance on which edition actually fits the job. Key marketplaces list keys of unknown origin from sellers who are hard to reach once an activation fails. We started Software in Store to sit between those two: genuine keys, the license type stated in plain words on every product page, and a person who answers email when something does not go as planned.
We are a small team and we keep the catalog deliberately narrow. We sell Microsoft licenses and nothing else, so we know each product, its activation behavior and its system requirements well enough to give you a straight answer before you pay. If an edition is the wrong fit for your PC or your use case, we will tell you so.
What we sell
Our catalog is organized into four groups:
- Operating systems: Windows 11 and Windows 10 in Home, Pro, Pro N, Pro for Workstations, Education, Enterprise and Enterprise LTSC editions, plus a Home to Pro upgrade and legacy Windows 7 and 8.1 keys.
- Microsoft Office: Office 2024, 2021, 2019, 2016, 2013 and 2010 in Professional Plus, Standard LTSC, Home and Business and Home and Student editions, including Mac versions and bundles that pair Office with Windows 11 Pro.
- Office products: standalone Word, Excel, Outlook and Access, plus Visio Professional, Project Professional, Visual Studio and SQL Server.
- Windows Server: Windows Server 2025 and 2022 in Standard and Datacenter editions, 16-core license packs, and Remote Desktop Services 50 User CAL packs.
Four products account for most of our orders: Windows 11 Pro, which adds BitLocker, Remote Desktop and Hyper-V to what the Home edition offers; Office 2024 Professional Plus, the current full desktop suite with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Access; Office 2021 Professional Plus, which still includes Publisher and remains a popular choice; and Windows Server 2025 Standard for small business servers and Hyper-V hosts. All four are perpetual licenses with no subscription attached.
How every order works
Every order follows the same three steps:
- Choose your edition and pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Checkout is encrypted and PCI-compliant, and card numbers are handled by the payment processor, so we never see them.
- Within minutes of payment you receive an email containing your 25-character product key, the official Microsoft download link and a short installation guide. The same key is saved under My Account on our site, so you can find it again years later.
- Download from Microsoft, install, enter the key and activate. If Microsoft asks for phone activation or shows an error you do not recognize, reply to the delivery email and we handle it with you.

What genuine means, and how you can verify a key yourself
A genuine key is one that Microsoft’s activation servers accept, and keep accepting. That is the only definition that matters, and it does not depend on our word. You can check it yourself within a few minutes of activating, and we encourage every customer to do so while the 30-day guarantee is running.
On Windows 11, open Settings, select System, then Activation. A genuine key shows the message that Windows is activated, along with the edition you purchased. On Windows 10, the same screen is under Settings, Update & Security, Activation.
For Microsoft Office, open Word or Excel, select File, then Account. Under Product Information you should see Product Activated and the exact edition name, for example Microsoft Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024. If either screen shows an error code instead, email us the code and we will resolve it or refund you.
Our guarantee and support
Every key is covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee. If a key cannot be activated and our support team cannot fix it, you receive a replacement key or a full refund, your choice. We do not ask you to prove that you tried hard enough first.
Support is handled by people, not a ticket bot, and we answer email seven days a week at support@softwareinstore.com. The most common request is phone activation: Microsoft occasionally asks for it, Windows displays an Installation ID, you send it to us, and we return the Confirmation ID that completes activation. We also help with edition choice before you order, with reinstalls after a hardware change, and with moving a retail key to a new PC after it has been removed from the old one.
Each product page states whether the key is retail, OEM or volume, because the three behave differently. Retail keys can move to a new PC. OEM keys stay with the first PC they activate.
