Microsoft Project 2024 Professional: the current perpetual Project, supported until 2029

Microsoft Project 2024 Professional, also written as MS Project 2024 or Microsoft Project Pro 2024, is the newest one-time purchase release of Microsoft's desktop project management application, part of the Office LTSC 2024 wave alongside Office 2024 Professional Plus and Visio 2024. Standard, Professional or Plan 3: choosing the right Project 2024

Microsoft offers Project 2024 in two perpetual editions, Microsoft Project Standard 2024 and Professional, plus a subscription. Most buyers who compare them settle on Professional, because managing resources across projects is exactly what Standard cannot do.

If you run one project at a time with no shared staff, Standard would do, though we do not currently stock it. Professional 2019, 2021 and 2024 share the same engine and feature set. The differences are support dates and polish: 2019 left support on October 14, 2025, 2021 is supported until October 13, 2026, and 2024 until October 9, 2029. For a new PC that will run Project for years, 2024 is the clear choice. For parity with an existing Office 2021 deployment, Project 2021 Professional is the alternative.

Licensing explained

This is a perpetual license: one payment, one PC, no renewal and no expiry. Microsoft issues Project Professional 2024 as retail, OEM style and volume licenses, each with its own transfer rules. A retail license can be deactivated on the old PC and installed on a new one. An OEM style license remains with the computer it was first activated on.
